PEOPLE MOVES

Matthew Godfrey, formerly Asia president of Y&R, has joined Nutrition Innovation, a Singapore-based food science startup, as CEO. The company is launching Nucane, a "patented, clinically proven low GI (glycemic index) sugar cane". The product is aimed at combatting the global obesity and diabetes epidemic via partnerships between sugar mills and brands, the company said.

CNN International has named Nikhil Kumar as their New Delhi bureau chief, responsible for multi-platform news coverage from India and the region.

Branding and design agency Hulsbosch appointed Carolyn Pitt, formerly client services director at Folk, as head of account management, reporting to Jaid Hulsbosch.

McCann Mumbai hired Abhinav Tripathi as executive creative director. He has worked af agencies including FCB Ulka, Ogilvy, Leo Burnett and TBWA, as well as having a previous stint at McCann.

Geometry Global Taiwan appointed Harry Bailey, most recently client services director at Geometry Singapore, as managing director.

Dentsu Aegis Network created a new chief client officer role for Vizeum’s veteran leader Kristian Barnes and promoted Duncan Pointer, formerly Vizeum's managing director, to fill Barnes’ vacated CEO role. (Read more)

iProspect appointed Rohan Philips as global chief product officer, based in Singapore. (Read more)

Accenture appointed Giorgio Migliarina as communications and media industry lead for Asia-Pacific. Migliarina previously worked as chief technology and innovation officer Telekom Malaysia for the past eight years.

Mindshare promoted Anam Tariq to the role of senior media planner in Pakistan.

South China Morning Post Publishers appointed Malcolm Ong to a new position, head of product. Reporting to CEO Gary Liu, Ong will lead product and engineering teams to develop new consumer experiences and innovations for SCMP's editorial products. He joins from Lyft in San Francisco.

Starcom appointed Adeeqa Nazir as its new head of public relations in Pakistan.

IPG Mediabrands appointed Anwer Khan as general manager in Malaysia.

AdParlor Malaysia appointed Dheeraj Raina as managing director, joining from Mindshare Malaysia; Eileen Khor as head of creative services, to oversee AdParlor's first in-house creative team in APAC; and Faraz Khan and Shyam Ravishankar as account directors.

VML appointed Desiree Wu as regional director of operations in Southeast Asia and India.

SiewPing Lim, Zenith China CEO starting in May 2016, resigned after a year of service and joined TCC Global, a customer retention, loyalty and retail marketing firm, in June as Asia CEO.

L'Oréal appointed Arsha Asif as digital manager for makeup category in Pakistan.

Hong Kong digital marketing firm X Social Group named Jackson Kwok as CEO. The former CEO of Omnicom Media Group in Hong Kong succeeds Samuel Lam, who will remain with X Social in an investor-relations role. Kwok will also remain president of X Horizon Group, which he founded.

The Hobnob Group named Marylou Andrew it's chief product officer in Pakistan.

BUSINESS WINS

FCM Travel Solutions appointed Ying Communications as its Asia hub agency to support its expansion in Asia.

Converse has appointed IPG’s Society to run its social-media business in Hong Kong following a competitive pitch.  

Following a pitch, English Biscuits Manufacturers (EBM) has hired Viral Edge to take over digital duties from Bulls Eye DDB for its Jam Delight product line. (Read more)

OTHER NEWS

Independent PR agency Sinclair Communications has rebranded this week as Sinclair, with a new website, new logo and a newly launched arts and culture arm, Sinclair Arts. The team of 35, lead by Kiri Sinclair, will continue to offer integrated PR campaigns across Asia from their Hong Kong and Shanghai offices.

AdAsia Holdings announced AdAsia Digital Discovery, which includes monthly open-house events and upon-request digital workshops aimed at "equipping marketers in Asia with the knowledge of modern marketing and advertising practices". The open houses start in September in Bangkok, while the workshops are available in Singapore and Taiwan. The company plans to roll both opportunities out in its other markets.

CBS agreed to acquire Australian commercial broadcaster Network Ten. In addition to linear channel Ten, the deal includes digital terrestrial television channel (DTT) Eleven, in which CBS already owned a 33 percent stake, the DTT channel One and Network Ten’s digital platform, Tenplay. CBS said it will launch CBS All Access, its digital subscription video on-demand service, in Australia.
