The Singapore office will also oversee operations in India, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.
Making the announcement, Michael Levinsohn, Lenco Mobile's CEO and president, said, "We have set up a regional head office in Singapore because of the demand that we are experiencing for our products in Asia."
He also quoted the government's investment in the telecommunications sector and the Singapore economy's phenomenol growth.
Patrick Pitcher, the former CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Asia-Pacific and Africa, has been appointed as the chairman of Lenco Mobile Asia. Pitcher is also a director of the Singapore Tourism Board and chairman of Group Edge, an internet, digital and CRM marketing company with offices in Thailand and Vietnam.
The director of business development is Christopher Joseph, a former regional director of leading international time share company RCI and co-founder of Australia-based Endless Rewards Loyalty Company.
The third member of the team, Jarret Le Roux, is the CEO of Multimedia Solutions Australia, Lenco Mobile's partner in that region. Le Roux will continue to partner with Lenco Mobile in Australia as well as direct operations for the Asian region.
An office will also be opened in Seoul at the beginning of 2011. The CEO of Lenco Mobile Korea is Sean Ryu, a former Nielsen Research executive in South Korea, who has several years of experience in the mobile industry throughout Asia.
Lenco Mobile Asia is currently testing connectivity with the major wireless carriers in the region and expects to be operational by the end of the first quarter of 2011.
