Americans are flocking to their polling stations for the presidential election, and brands like Lyft, Violife and Krispy Kreme are launching campaigns and deals offering everything from free childcare to transportation—or just a sweet treat.
Lyft interviewed a Black driver who couldn’t legally vote until he was 30 years old and recalled the fight for suffrage during the Civil Rights Movement for a campaign video promoting the brand’s voting-access program. To limit voter-access barriers, including transportation, Lyft’s program offers 50% off rideshares and bike and scooter rides to polls with the nationwide code VOTE24.
According to Lyft, there are 100,000 fewer polling places for this year’s presidential election than there were in 2020, and Lyft estimates that 2 million voters ride with Lyft to the polls. To further combat voting barriers, Lyft partnered with the NAACP, When We All Vote, League of Women Voters and Vote Riders. Lyft launched its first voting-access program in 2014 and aims to increase voter turnout by 500,000 by 2028.
For the one-third of Americans who skip breakfast on Election Day to vote, Violife launched its America Has Voted campaign, providing food trucks, free bagels and Violife cream cheese to polling locations in New York City, Miami and Austin.
Unlock Democracy, a Lime campaign that launched on Vote Early Day, October 29, provides two free 30-minute rides to voters using code “VOTE 2024” to eliminate poll station transportation barriers and boost turnout.
To celebrate voters’ voices and make their day sweeter, Krispy Kreme is offering free Original Glazed doughnuts and “I Voted” stickers on Election Day.
Uber is offering 50% off an Uber ride to polls, and UberEats is offering 25% off election night meal orders after 6 p.m. on November 5 for voters staying home to watch the results.
