HKJC taps McCann for 130th anniversary campaign

HONG KONG - McCann Worldgroup and Weber Shandwick have galloped into the year of the horse with a major piece of new business: a creative project for the Hong Kong Jockey Club's (HKJC) 130th year-long anniversary campaign.

HKJC taps McCann for 130th anniversary campaign

The client invited four 4As creative agencies including McCann and Ogilvy for a pitch in January. Two agencies pulled out due to the timing being over Chinese New Year. Ogilvy has worked with HKJC for a number of years.

Weber Shandwick will lead PR activities for the campaign.

HKJC’s 130th anniversary campaign coincides with the Chinese year of the horse. A source close to the business said it would be a year-long campaign, but was not able to disclose specific details.

Founded in 1884, HKJC is the largest charity donor in Hong Kong and among the top 15 worldwide. Its donations reached HK$1.7 billion in 2012.
