Exclusively designed for and launched in China in August 2010, only 72 limited edition bottles of Absolut 72 Bian will be available in Singapore in a one-day exclusive launch on 26 January 2011.

Maybelline Tan, assistant brand manager, Pernod Ricard Singapore, says that over the years, Absolut limited edition bottles have built a loyal following.

“The artist Gao Yu’s take on a classical Chinese icon is the perfect integration of contemporary and traditional art which exemplifies notion of ‘creativity with no limits’ of Absolut,” added Tan.

In 1985, Absolut commissioned pop art icon Andy Warhol to paint a picture of their bottle, setting off a legacy of collaborations with creatives from photography, fashion to music.

Inspired by the ancient Chinese mythical figure, the Monkey King, Absolut 72 Bian refers to the 72 transformations made by Monkey King during the novel Journey to the West

Artist Gao Yu created surreal, cartoon-like features of the classical figure to express an unique and distinctive fusion of traditional and modern art.

He gave a traditional Chinese panda the ability to transform himself into the Monkey King amidst smoky red clouds. At the focal point of the design are the words ‘Absolut’ and, in Chinese, ‘72 Bian’ written in distinctive Chinese red reflecting the style of the modern culture.
