HONG KONG - Google Hong Kong has taken a look at the top 10 searches related to Valentine’s Day, discovering that apart from buying Valentine’s Day gifts, Hong Kongers have become more interested in searching for gift ideas.

The following are the top 10 searches related to Valentine's Day in Hong Kong this month.

1. Valentine's Day. A huge surge in February search volume is found as local people are getting started to plan for the big surprise for their significant halves on Valentine's Day

2. Valentine's Day gifts ideas. Hong Kong people are searching online for the best gift ideas for their beloved ones - flowers, chocolates, recipes, arts, etc.

3. Valentine's Day recipt. Many local people are going online to research for recipes for a homemade romantic dinner. However, not many locals are a good spellers as 'recipe' is commonly misspelt as 'recipt'.

4. Angry Bird seasons. Angry Birds is definitely one of the hottest mobile applications on iPhone and Android phones. Follwoing the 'Trick or treat' and 'Season's greetings', Angry Birds Seasons now returns with its 'Valentine's Day' edition. 

5. Paper mache Valentine. Actions speak louder than words. Many people find that making a paper mache piece best shows love for their significant halves.

6. Valentine's Day date. Searching for a date on Valentine's Day might sound bizarre but it looks like busy Hong Kongers can be forgetful sometimes.

7. Valentine's Day card. It could be difficult to get the right Valentine's Day card for your loved ones. It seems that people have spent quite some time searching for unique cards online.

8. Love SMS. Sending a love SMS could be the easiest and most direct way to share your feelings, especially for the 'thumb generation'.

9. Chocolate crispies. Exchanging chocolate crispies on Valentine's Day is a festive ritual for love birds in the city.

10. Friend Valentine card. Love has no boundaries. Nowadays, Valentine's cards are no longer limited to lovers as Hong Kong people have started sending Valentine cards to their friends.

In addition, to celebrating Valentine's Day, Google has invited Robert Indiana, a famous American Pop Art master to design its doodle, featuring 'love' but spelling out the world 'Google' for this year's Valentine's Day.
