Tesco pitches $5 million media in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR - Tesco, the British retail giant, has called a pitch for its media account estimated to be worth $5 million placing incumbent MEC on alert.

Besides MEC, fellow GroupM agency Maxus and Omnicom Media Group's OMD have been invited to pitch for the account. Carat and Starcom may also be involved, say sources close to the pitch.

Last month Tesco opened its 29th store in Malaysia. The supermarket chain is reportedly going through a media review in Thailand also.

Tesco spent about $5 million on its Malaysian media last year.
