Singapore Sports Council initiates search for creative agencies
The SSC had developed its “Let’s Play” consumer brand campaign this year, in partnership with Publicis Singapore, to encourage locals to adopt sportier lifestyles while building a more holistic sporting culture in the Lion City.

In its latest tender, the SSC would be appointing a number of agencies for a year to carry on its brand campaign in 2009, to launch integrated communications for a number of projects including the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon, WaterFest Singapore and other major sporting events.

The Singapore Government is keen to position the country as a centre for sports in Asia in the next three to five years in view of the first Youth Olympic Games being staged here in 2010.

Initiatives are also underway to improve the infrastructure for sports venues. A $1.2 billion (US$812 million) Sports Hub featuring a 55,000-capacity stadium, an aquatic and water sports centre and 41,000 square metres of commercial space are currently in the pipeline, and construction is expected to be completed by 2011.
