The agency said the event would provide an opportunity for brands to enter into the market on a long-term basis. The last time the event was held in Myanmar was in 1969.

John Handley, CEO of SAIL Marketing & Communications, said the agency approached the Myanmar Sports Ministry earlier this year in an effort to help the ministry get the most from the event.

“We believe that the 2013 SEA Games has unmatched potential to transform Myanmar," he said. "The surge of support and business investment set to pour in, coinciding with the 2013 SEA Games, makes it a unique platform for national and multinational investment.”

Handley added that the SEA Games represents more than just a sports marketing platform to Myanmar. The agency is marketing the event nationally and externally as a “door into all of the present and future commercial potential” that the country can provide for brands.

Founded in 1991, SAIL Marketing & Communication is a total communications advertising agency in Myanmar.
