M&C Saatchi opens digital arm in India, China
The new digital arm will be called M&C Saatchi-i, and will be headquartered in Beijing and Mumbai, with additional offices in Shanghai and New Delhi.

In China, M&C Saatchi-i’s managing director will be He Chang, who was previously chief designer at Baidu.com and director of user experience at Qunar.com. He was also chief creative at Google China. M&C Saatchi-i China has already confirmed three clients, UniPresident, Baidu and Mercedes-Benz.

The Mumbai office, which was soft-launched recently, is headed by Rakhshin Patel, who is working alongside 22-year marketing communications veteran Sumantra Sengupta, the company’s new CEO. The India office has already won a handful of assignments, including Bajaj Allianz Insurance, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Fullerton Securities, Castrol and The Times Group of India. Patel formerly oversaw RMG Connect in India. Sengupta was previously senior VP and general manager at RMG Connect Mumbai and Bangalore.

M&C Saatchi’s CEO Asia, Chris Jaques (pictured) commented: “The most important, fastest-growing geographies in the world are obviously China and India. The fastest-growing sector in the industry is digital. So the launch of M&C Saatchi-i is an obvious decision, and incredibly exciting for us all.”

Jaques added that agency may extend into Indonesia.
