Master Kong looks for creative agency

BEIJING - Taiwanese FMCG brand Master Kong (Kang-shi-fu) has invited Ogilvy Raynet, Dentsu and incumbent Euro RSCG to pitch for the advertising account of its Miao Fu muffin and 3+2 biscuit brands beginning next week.

According to sources, Euro RSCG is currently handling four to five of Master Kong’s products, including the two accounts in question.

The source speculated that the pitch is being held to strengthen Master Kong’s profile in the market in light of increased competition from foreign competitors.

“The brand has been in China for more than 20 years, so Chinese customers feel that it is a reliable and well-known brand. However, there have been a lot more foreign brands entering the China market in recent years, so the competition in the snacks category has become more intense,” said one source.

The products’ foreign competitors includes Lotte from Korea and Oreo, among others.

The last pitch held by Master Kong took place two years ago.
