Industry sources told Campaign this was a highly competitive pitch, which Lowe narrowly won.

Independent marketing consultant R3 ran the pitch between Markor and the competing agencies.

Lowe is now finalising contract details with Markor. It is understood that the agency was picked based on its ideas of strategic excellence derived from constant communication with the client.

Grey was the incumbent agency of Markor, one of China's largest upscale furniture retailers and export manufacturer.

Founded in 1995, Markor owns US upholstery producer Schnadig and also brings in furniture brands like Ethan Allen into its retailing network of 30 stores in China. Markor Furniture operates its stores under the brand name Markor Furnishings.

Domestic competitors of Markor include FAVA International, Guangming Group Furniture, Guangdong Yihua Timber Industry and Furniture Brands.
