ASIA-PACIFIC - Former Bates 141 Asia chairman Jeffrey Yu has been named CEO for Asia at Paris-based data analytics consultancy Numsight.

Numsight, whose international client base includes major retailers McDonald's, Carrefour, and Watson Group, as well as brands Coca-Cola, Kraft and L’Oreal, said the partnership with Yu will help to expand its footprint in Asia.

“We have been in Asia for more than three years, observing market developments and the needs of our global clients," said Eric Janvier, managing partner of Numsight. "It is evident that the time is right for Numsight to take a big step forward, and who better to partner with than Jeffrey who understands the dynamics of the Asian markets and can bring Numsight’s best practices and latest technology for the benefits of clients in this region.”

Yu left Bates in October last year, after what he described as "disagreements over the future of the agency network". He had been with Bates for 25 years.

Yu said he was "thrilled" with the new joint venture. "I like Numsight because it has its soul in data, which is leveraged into a strong expertise in customer knowledge," he added. "Our immediate task is to grow Hong Kong and China. Hong Kong will serve as a regional hub, working closely with our Paris team. And our Shanghai office will expand based on clients requirements and on the ground needs.”
