Google to increase staff numbers in Asia

ASIA PACIFIC – Google has announced plans to hire more staff across the region as part of its global growth.

Google to increase staff numbers in Asia

Google plans to increase its workforce by over 500 in Japan and Asia-Pacific this year. This follows an addition of 4,500 staff last year, and 6,000 staff in 2007.

Last year proved to be a great year for mobile across Japan and Asia-Pacific, and the region’s strong internet base and high population sees an estimated 300,000 android activations a day.

A statement from Google said that they are riding Asia as an export powerhouse, and the region’s growth in 2010 was based on a massive ramping up of exports.

Google opened its Malaysian office yesterday in Kuala Lumpur, its first overseas office since Singapore in 2007, demonstrating its increasing investment and building on successes in the world's fastest-growing region of Southeast Asia.
