SINGAPORE - Courts, the IT, electronics and home furnishing retailer, has kicked off a series of public engagement activities through a partnership with Liverpool Football Club (LFC) to bring LFC International Football Academy & Soccer Schools to Singapore and Malaysia.

The academy targets young people, Courts Young Lions, and local school coaches as well as business partners and customers of Courts Singapore. It aims to groom more than 600 football enthusiasts in both countries.

Sessions have also been earmarked for members of WE CARE Community Services, a non-denominational outpatient centre treating addictive diseases in Singapore.

Taking place from 19 to 30 November, each group will take part in training sessions ranging from one to three days, where certified coaches from the academy will engage local football stars and use a training syllabus aimed to impart the LFC's skills and knowledge.

Football enthusiasts can win passes to a free academy session by uploading a video of themselves explaining why they should be chosen to attend the academy at the microsite.

The campaign is part of the company’s commitment to grow football as a sport in Singapore and inject more dynamism and interest in the sport among young people, students and players.

Fans of the football club will be able to win chances to take part in the LFC International Football Academy & Soccer Schools in November, or catch the Reds in action in 2013 at Anfield.

Earlier this year, Courts Singapore named footballer and sports personality Peter Schmeichel as its new brand ambassador.

“With over 500,000 Reds [Liverpool] fans in Singapore, myself included, we are confident that the academy will go down as a highlight in the national sporting history books, and further drive the passion that local football players and enthusiasts have in the sport,” said Terry O’Connor, CEO at Courts Asia.
