The Shanghai Contemporary Art Fair, which is organized by Italian exhibition company Bologna Fiere, will be taking place at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre from 6 to 10 September. In its sixth year in China, the event is one of the largest art fairs in China and the region.

Benephiz will lead the PR strategic and communications as well as recruitment for exhibitors from galleries and art houses in China.

The Shanghai Contemporary Art Fair will showcase mainly Chinese contemporary artwork, but will also present a smaller selection of works from India, Thailand, Hong Kong and Macau.

According to the European Fine Art Foundation, China surpassed the US for the first time in 2011 to become the largest art and antiques market globally, based on both auction and dealer sales. Auction sales saw a surge of 177 percent in 2010 and a further 64 percent increase in 2011 in China.

Bologna Fiere has also assigned Benephiz to handle the PR duties of its 2013 Autopromotec event in Bologna. The agency will be tasked with raising awareness of this fair among the autoparts industry in China in order to drive exhibitors to the fair.

Benephiz Marketing & PR’s retainer clients include Saipan Island Tourism Bureau and American sports-shoe brand Skechers. The agency has also worked for international pharmaceutical brands like MSD and Lilly on a project basis.
