Travel Expert makes holiday bookings like a buffet feast

Hong Kong-listed travel agency Travel Expert, which hired MK2 Communications as its new creative and branding agency partner last December, has rolled out a branding campaign that highlights the ‘human touch’ of its services.

The new campaign continues to use TVB celebrity Wong Cho-Lam, who has been brand ambassador for Travel Expert for more than two years. The brand's general manager of marketing and business development for Hong Kong is Susanna Lau Mei-Sze.

The TVC shows a young couple discussing a holiday plan over dinner. Wong breaks in through the restaurant's walls, assembles the elements of a complete holiday package from buffet tables, and serves it to the delighted couple on a plate.

Maurice Chan, managing director of MK2 Communications, said that the campaign's main task is to underline the client's brand value: its extensive travel knowledge and personalized services that can fully cater to consumers' needs.

Chan said that Wong’s humourous and popular image echoes the versatile and friendly brand image, and the analogy of the buffet expresses the wide array of choices available through the agency's 55 retail shops.

Travel Expert competes with Zuji.com, P&O Travel and other local travel agencies.

The campaign rolls out today and runs for a month, covering TV, print and online media, which is handled by MPG and MediaContacts for the online and offline media planning, respectively.

MK2 is 20-year-old Hong Kong independent creative and full-service brand management agency. Its previous travel sector experience includes Marco Polo Hotel, Hong Thai Travel and Park Lane Hotel.
