Cartier launches worldwide short film recounting its history

GLOBAL - French jeweller and watchmaker Cartier has launched a three-and-a-half minute film to celebrate its 165 years of history. The film is two years in the making.

The film, titled 'L'Odyssee de Cartier' premiered in 15 major cities this month, including Paris, New York, Milan, Beijing, Seoul, Dubai, Rio and Hong Kong. The latter launch took place on 4 March across TVB, ATV and Now TV, plus all major cinemas in the city.

The dramatic film follows a panther, Cartier's icon since 1914, on a journey across the world as it relives the history behind each of the brand's signture pieces and that of the three founding Cartier brothers Pierre, Louis and Jacques.

The film was directed by advertising film director Bruno Aveillan and a team of 50 people internationally. In addition to the three young panthers, Cali, Damou and Tiga, trained by Thierry Le Portier, the film also stars model Shalom Harlow as the 'Lady in the Mansion' wearing three Cartier signature pieces.

The production took two and a half years to complete, with shooting locations including Prague, Italy, Spain and finally Paris where 13 Rue de la Paix, Place Vendôme and Le Grand Palais played host to the camera crew. The Indian palace scene, created by film production designer Frank Bénézech, was born from a 1:5 scale model that took six weeks to make.

The original score for the film was created and orchestrated by Pierre Adenot and recorded at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London, also home to music from movies Harry Potter, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings

"This film is the epic story of the King of Jewellers moved by its passion for creation and for interacting with the world's cultures," according to the jeweller.
