The Monkeys rebranded as Droga5, Mark Green named global CEO

Green, who currently leads Accenture Song's Australia and New Zealand operations and holds the CEO title at The Monkeys, will relocate to New York to take the helm.

In a shakeup, Accenture Song’s creative arm, The Monkeys, will move under the Droga5 umbrella. The Auckland, Melbourne and Sydney offices will join Droga5 from December 1, 2024. According to Droga5, the integration of The Monkeys with the larger company will provide greater tech, design and data capabilities access to local clients.

Sydney-based Mark Green has been named the new global CEO of Droga5, effective October 2024. Green, who currently leads Accenture Song's Australia and New Zealand operations and holds the CEO title at The Monkeys, will relocate to New York to take the helm. He replaces Sarah Thompson.

Accenture has confirmed to Campaign that David Droga will remain the global CEO of Accenture Song.

“Mark is a proven leader, who embodies these ambitions and will take Droga5 to the next level of excellence and meaningful influence,” said Droga.

In his new role, Green will work alongside recently appointed global chief creative officer, Pelle Sjoenell, to oversee all Droga5 creative offices around the world, including in Dublin, London, New York, São Paulo and Tokyo. He will report to global lead of communications for Accenture Song Annette King, who also oversees all of the creative agencies, including Droga5.

Droga said that Droga5’s mission has always been to deliver creativity rooted in strategy and purpose that is “humanity-obsessed”. “We create experiences that deeply connect with people and add value to their lives,” he said.

Meanwhile, Green added: “I’m a firm believer that creativity can influence business and people in big and impactful ways. We have proven that our combination of creative firepower and tech transformation is a winning formula in the current market.

“It’s a privilege to take on this role at Droga5 to steer it into its next chapter, and I’m particularly thrilled to have the incredibly talented team at The Monkeys on board with me for the journey.”

The announcement follows a strong year of growth for Droga5, whose client roster includes JPMorgan and Chase, Molson Coors, and Tourism Australia among others. Green’s successor to lead Accenture Song in Australia and New Zealand will be announced in due course. 

The Monkeys, one of Australia's most-awarded creative shops, picked up Grand Prix at the Cannes Lion Advertising Festival for the last two years in a row. This year, it won the Film Grand Prix for ‘Play It Safe’ to celebrate 50 years of the Sydney Opera House and in 2023 took home the Titanium Grand Prix for The First Digital Nations for the Government of Tuvalu.
