Ma is a native of Shanghai and has 15 years of 4A agency experience. Most recently, he was MD of Ogilvy Action from 2003 to 2009. Prior to that, he was general manager of M&C Saatchi for three years, and also had stints with Leo Burnett, Bates and Y&R in the 1990s.

"Jeff is foremost amongst the new breed of China agency managers," said Thubron. "I hired him a decade ago as the first employee of M&C Saatchi Shanghai when we set it up from scratch. Over the last 10 years I've watched him grow and mature into a seasoned communications executive. He'll lead our fast growing operation in Shanghai and help cement out uniquely integrated positioning to the next level."

The agency has also promoted Ruth Ang (pictured front left) to the newly created SVP of TBWA\Greater China.

Ang, an eight-year TBWA\ veteran, was previously MD of TBWA\Shanghai. She will be responsible for relationships with key MNC clients, such as McDonald's and Pernod-Ricard, as well as new business and marketing.

"Ruth is brilliant with clients and has TBWA blood running in her veins," Thubron added. "In her new and expanded role she'll be even more formidable and will form a major part of our growth strategy in our six offices in Greater China."

Ma and Ang join newly appointed TBWA\Shanghai ECD Chien Hwang on TBWA\Greater China's leadership team.
