A few other digital agencies are also believed to have been involved in the pitch.

Agenda will develop digital campaigns and manage the websites for five brands under Shanghai Volkswagen that include Passat, Lavida, Polo, Touran and Tiguan.

"It is our first auto client win in China, and we're excited to get into the auto industry since digital plays a highly strategic role in auto brand communication,” said Clement Yip, chief creative officer and MD of Agenda Shanghai

Agenda has started work on a new campaign for the automobile company to be launched in time for the Auto Shanghai 2009 exhibition, held from 22 to 28 April.

Shanghai Volkswagen was the first automotive joint venture in China and the company competes with most global auto players in China.
