The news comes as DDB Group has bolstered its operations in New Zealand. Earlier this month, DDB New Zealand appointed DraftFCB's Justin Mowday to the newly created role of managing director.

Both posts were created to meet the agencies’ growth in the market.

At Rapp, Keaney will lead the current team of six and looks to recruit more specialist staff.

Prior to joining the agency, he was managing partner of marketing consultancy The Tin Drum, and was a group account director at Clemenger BBDO.

He has worked with brands including Meridian Energy, NZ Transport Agency, Greater Wellington Council and Panasonic. At Rapp Wellington, he will manage key clients including ANZ, The National Bank, CIGNA, CCS and Fly Buys.
