PHD launches in Australia

SYDNEY - Omnicom Media Group is set to launch PHD in the Australian market, having acquired a 50 per cent stake in Clemenger Group's Total Advertising and communications.

PHD launches in Australia
Total, which was established in Australia in 1993, will be re-branded as PHD and operate as a joint venture between DDB and Clemenger.

Leading the agency as chief executive will be Total founder Barry O’Brien (pictured), along with Mark Holden, Martin Hadley and Matthew Chapman as managing partners.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to take things into the next phase,” commented O’Brien, adding that the agency was currently competing for an account from Vodafone, a move that had been facilitated by the mobile operator’s existing connection with PHD. “PHD has very aggressive plans in terms of new business and growth, and it’s good to be a part of that.”

Other clients the agency will work with include Wyeth, Alfa Romeo, Citroen, Fiat, Real Insurance, Pay Pal, Ebay, Etihad, Air New Zealand, Warner Music and electrical goods retailer Bing Lee. O’Brien noted that the majority were long term accounts of Total.
