Ogilvy promotes Gavin Simpson to group ECD for Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR - Gavin Simpson will be moving to Ogilvy & Mather Malaysia as a group executive creative director, replacing Daniel Comar who is moving up to a new role as regional executive creative director of OgilvyAction.

Comar has been the ECD of Ogilvy & Mather Advertising since September 2004 while Simpson was until now with Ogilvy & Mather Hong Kong, where he has been posted as ECD since June 2007.

Zayn Khan, CEO of Ogilvy Malaysia, said that under Comar’s creative direction Ogilvy “has made big strides in Malaysia in terms of business growth, creative quality and effectiveness”.

“Dani’s work with big brands has been recognised locally and internationally and is often used as a benchmark of best practice,” he added.

Simpson joined Ogilvy & Mather Malaysia in 1991. After a three-year stint at Naga DDB, he returned to Ogilvy. After three years with Ogilvy & Mather Malaysia, Simpson had stints at Y&R Malaysia and Leo Burnett Indonesia. He has 17 years of experience in the business.

He is expected to work closely with senior creative leadership in the OgilvyAction and OgilvyOne units.
