Nike adds fun to technology with Tokyo Innovation Hunt

TOKYO – Nike has organised a scavenger hunt across Tokyo’s Harajuku district to promote the launch of its LunarGlide+ 4 and Flyknit sneaker line.

Developed with AKQA, the ‘Innovation Hunt’ invites participants to use a map to discover artistic products inspired by Nike’s Flyknit and Lunarlon technologies. Items include a Flyknit-upholstered fixed gear bicycle, shoes, football and teddy bear, and a Lunarlon skateboard, dumbbell set and traffic cone.

The pieces are finished in Nike’s distinctive flourescent ‘Volt’ colourway. Nike introduced its Flyknit concept in February. Aimed at runners, the technology is designed to make shoes as light as possible while offering a precision fit. Lunarlon is a cushioning technology for shoes.

The initiative has been organised in conjunction with the Nike+ Ugokidase [Move] Station exhibition in Harajuku, which showcases the latest Nike+ technology. Both the Innovation Hunt and the Ugokidase event will run until 11 August.

Last month, Nike launched a Facebook initiative for the LunarGlide+ 4 in Japan that invited people to test the endurance of an unorthodox Tokyo-based Englishman, Joseph Tame.
