Steinmeyer previously headed one of MetaDesign’s units in Berlin and oversaw 40 staff and helped manage accounts for key clients including Volkswagen, Munich Re and Siemens.

According to the agency, she worked with the Beijing team to develop VW’s global dealership concept.

Uli Mayer-Johanssen, chief design officer and managing director at MetaDesign, said Steinmeyer will help consult the company’s local and international clients across China and will develop its business in Beijing.

MetaDesign first launched in Beijing in October 2008, its first expansion into Asia.

At the time, it was led by chief operating officer Tobias Phleps and the agency worked alongside existing German clients, including Volkswagen.
