KUALA LUMPUR - Media Prima Berhad (MPB) has renewed a multi-year deal with Disney-ABC International Television (DAIT) to carry the latter's latest content on its channels on TV3.

The agreement covers a range of TV series from ABC Studios including FlashForward, Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives.

Media Prima will also have first run on dramas such as Ghost Whisperer and Private Practice, in addition to the licensing of current features, live action and Disney-animated TV series as well as Disney Channel Original Movies and ABC Family TV movies.

“At the core of what Media Prima stands for to our viewers and advertisers has always been the great content we offer them, so this partnership clearly demonstrates both our commitment as well as dedication to bring them the best and latest content in television entertainment before any other television channels,” said Dato’ Amrin Awaluddin, Media Prima’s group MD, in a statement.

“We’re dealing with a very sophisticated audience these days who have access to multiple sources of content, so being able to be the first ever to air these popular shows on Malaysian free-to-air TV reinforces our brand positioning, keeps the fans updated and our advertisers at the forefront, which is essentially what we are all about.”

In March, Aksh Optifibre signed a multi-year video-on-demand (VOD) agreement with Disney-ABC International Television to showcase Disney content on its icontrol platform in India.
