Lowe Singapore brings local touch to Singapore Zoo’s Night of Horrors

Singapore Zoo has collaborated with Lowe for a one-off campaign to promote the Night Safari's Halloween Horrors activities for the month of October.

Lowe Singapore brings local touch to Singapore Zoo’s Night of Horrors

The Night Safari’s Halloween Horrors tour takes place annually to coincide with Halloween, and this year, Lowe was roped in to create a viral campaign to promote the event.

“The client came to us with a carte blanche brief,” said Ng Tian It, chief creative officer at Lowe & Partners Singapore. Calling the project every creative’s dream come true, Ng says the team did what every creative would have done – have fun.

The result is two video clips featuring two bats sharing a scary story – with a version in English, and another in Hokkien. “With capricious bats for talents meant reverse engineering was in order – shoot first, script later,” Ng said.

“This year’s theme at the Night Safari is on Asian ghosts. Ghosts are universal – and Singaporeans’ fascination with ghosts is no less fervent,” Ng explains, adding that the client requested a Hokkien version – Hokkien being the most prevalent dialect in Singapore – for a more local feel. Being fluent in the dialect, the team’s writer Gayle Lim scripted the dialogue.

The clips were first uploaded on youtube, and have been spreading online on sharing sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
