Latham & Watkins appoints Newgate for Asia PR duties

HONG KONG – Latham & Watkins, a global law firm, has appointed Newgate Communications as its PR representative in Asia following a pitch.

The company operates in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo and covers a range of practices including corporate, finance, regulatory and disputes.

Richard Barton (pictured), managing partner of Newgate, said he had “a fascinating and challenging mandate to build the firm’s profile in the region” but was unable to disclose further details.

Newgate launched in Hong Kong in 2013 and has since expanded into Singapore and Australia. It operates in Beijing, Tokyo, Taipei, Seoul, Jakarta and Ho Chi Minh via an affiliate network.

Barton said Newgate was “building an integrated corporate financial and government relations capability and [continuing] to hire at all levels”.
