
These platforms include concourses and corridors of Chongqing rail transit lines numbers 1 and 3. As a result of this agreement, JCDecaux's rail transit media business in Chongqing will encompass all the city's rail lines, including Line 2 which has already been operated by the company since 2005.
Chongqing is a major city in Western China with a total population of more than 28.8 million. When completed, the city's rail transit system, with a length of up to 75 kilometres, will provide full coverage of Chongqing's key urban areas (Yuzhong, Jiulongpo, Dadukou, Jeifangbei and Shapingba).
Shen Xiaoyang, chairman of Chongqing Rail Transit said the company's partnership with JCDecaux has provided a "deep understanding of the advertising company's high-quality and wide-ranging operational capability".
"We have been able to capitalise upon JCDecaux's successful experience in advertising operations in China's mature markets, including Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai," Shen added.
JCDecaux co-CEO Jean-Charles Decaux said this new contract would help to strengthen JCDecaux's "leading position" in transit advertising in seven Chinese cities. The outdoor media specialist also has advertising footholds through airports, public transport systems and school campuses, since entering the mainland market in 2005.
