According to Alan Rutherford, chairman and world president, the association decided to cancel the event to better focus on celebrations and events surrounding the 75th anniversary of the International Advertising Association that will be held next year.

"The upcoming sports events in Europe, highlighted by the Olympics, factored into this decision as many in our industry have had to devote time and resources to these," said Rutherford in a statement.

The IAA World Congress normally takes place very two years and brings together business leaders and communications industry executives from across the globe.
