GSK picks McCann to launch cervical cancer vaccine in India

MUMBAI - GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has selected McCann Healthcare Worldwide to drive the launch of cervical cancer vaccine Cervarix in the Indian market, following a pitch that included JWT, Ogilvy & Mather Healthcare and Sudler & Hennessey.

The agency with be responsible for developing strategic and creative work to generate awareness of the product and greater understanding of cervical cancer, which is the leading cause of cancer-related death among women in India.

“The cervix itself is an enigma in terms of relevance and understanding,” said John Cahill, McCann Healthcare's group president for Japan and regional director for Asia-Pacific, describing the task ahead as both exciting and challenging.

Cervarix reportedly provides up to 70 per cent protection from the disease.
