Based in Singapore, Gascoigne will lead the agency’s digital experts and drive the integration of digital techniques, tactics and strategies with traditional communications for major regional accounts across the region.
Her role will serve to strengthen Weber Shandwick’s digital communications portfolio within existing client accounts and new business opportunities, according to the agency.
She will also support the integration of the Studio—an in-house facility that provides digital video and content production services—with regional account work, as well as support the running of Firebell, a proprietary Weber Shandwick online crisis simulation training tool that has been widely applied by clients in the region.
Gascoigne will report directly to co-managing directors Margaret Cunico and Vanessa Ho Nikolovski and will also have a reporting line to Jon Wade, Asia-Pacific head of digital.
“Our team will tap her expertise to enrich the digital campaigns that we’re working on across our client portfolio,” said Nikolovski. “We will be counting on Adriana to provide counsel to account teams and clients on strategies for integrating multimedia and digital content to their storytelling.”
Weber Shandwick said the newly created role is a part of the agency’s ongoing effort to build its Centre of Digital Excellence in Hong Kong.
“Adriana is well known in the industry for her digital prowess and her can-do attitude," Wade said. "Needless to say, our Centre for Digital Excellence is building solid foundations with the great talent we are bringing on board.”
Girls in Tech, a non-profit organisation which Gascoigne launched in San Francisco in 2007, has since grown to 25 active chapters around the world. The Singapore chapter was launched when she moved to Singapore last year as head of business development at Impulse Flyer, a members-only portal featuring luxury and boutique hotels in Asia-Pacific.
She previously worked for hi5, SocialGamingNetwork (SGN), SocialGold and GUBA in Silicon Valley, as well as digital roles in international PR agencies in the US. She was also an “Intel Insider,” serving as a brand and product advisor for Intel and as an advisor to a variety of start-ups.
