Established last year, Starnet is a digital company with just over 30 employees.

Lin said that the company's vision is to be a full-service agency and e-marketing solutions provider. It has already won well-known clients like Blizzard China, Google and Hilton.

Late August, Lin resigned from McDonald's China after being their media director for five years.

"I have been working in traditional media for a long time, McDonald's China has given me an arena to polish my media skills," said Lin.

"The marco trend for media and marketing industry is digital component, and I believe my new role as the head of this startup agency would give me a greater territory and learning platform, and my vision is to go for a holistic marketing rather than just media," he added.

Recent cases of senior marketers and agency heads moving to China digital companies also include Chris Tung, VP Marketing of Pepsi China, joining Hudong.com as CEO and Billboard Kwok, ex MD of EURO 4D China, joining e-commerc company DangDang.com as CMO.
