A statement from P&G said Riccardi will leave the company to pursue personal interests in fashion and dance and in the next few months will work closely with Stevenson for a seamless transition of P&G’s Greater China business.

Sources close to P&G China had previously suggested Riccardi was to take on a global role at P&G's headquarters in Connecticut in its shampoo division. However, a spokesperson from P&G said: "She has been offered great opportunities in P&G to continue her career growth, but she has decided to pursue her own interests and passion."

A source close to Riccardi said: "She [Riccardi] has built a very strong reputation first in Latin America, then Russia and now China, so if she looks outside of P&G she will not be short of job offers."

“Daniela has made strong contributions to P&G’s business in China. Under her strong leadership, P&G has grown to be the largest and most successful consumer goods company in China, ” said Stevenson, “Greater China is and will remain as one of the most important growth engines for P&G. Building on Daniela's strong legacy, I look forward to leading our Greater China organisation to serve more Chinese consumers in more parts of China more completely in the years ahead.”

Stevenson has worked in P&G's fabric care, health and beauty care, baby care, and feminine care businesses across different countries, including assignments in the UK, Turkey, Russia and Egypt.
