Cheil to handle PR for 2010 G-20 Summit

SEOUL - Korean advertising and marketing network Cheil Worldwide has been selected to manage communications for the Seoul G-20 Summit meeting following a competitive PR pitch that began earlier this year.

Cheil will oversee the broadcast, press, public relations, digital and event campaigns for the summit, which will be held from November 10 to 12.

According to the event’s website, the G-20 launched in 1999 in the wake of the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis as a means for advanced and emerging economic markets to cooperate to stabilise the global financial market.

The world’s top leaders from 20 countries are slated to participate in the 2010 event. A parallel summit will be held next month in Canada ahead of the November meeting in Seoul.

Last year the G-20 summits were held in London and Pittsburgh. In 2008, the summit was held in Washington D.C.

The win adds to Cheil’s portfolio of campaigns for global events. In the past, the network managed campaigns for the 1993 Daejeon Expo; the 2002 Korea/Japan FIFA World Cup Tournament; 2005’s APEC Summit Meeting; and select communications surrounding the 2010 Shanghai Expo.
