According to a spokeswoman for Turner Entertainment Network, which operates Cartoon Network, the move emphasises that “2009 will be a year of online games for Cartoon Network. The developments represent a significant commitment on our part to invest in the online space.”

She added that gaming has become a focus for the network as the internet is catching up with TV as the dominant platform for entertainment for children in Asia-Pacific.

Turner has touted Fusion Fall as “Cartoon Network’s most ambitious game to date”. The game itself, which is available in the US, was developed by Cartoon Network and Korea-based game developer Grigon.

Cartoon Network has 10 localised web destinations across Asia-Pacific.
