NEW DELHI - Bite Communications has announced it is expanding its global network with a new office opening in India on 1 March, under the leadership of former Gutenberg Communications vice-president and head of India Pranav Kumar.

The agency's current retainer assignments include HP, Intercontinental Hotels Group, the Richard Ivey School of Business, Siemens PLM Software and Swift.

The office will be led by Kumar, who previously helped Gutenberg grow from fewer than five employees in India to more than 30. Prior to that, he worked for Sapient Corporation, Genesis Burson-Marsteller and the International Management Group (IMG).

Bite's India business will be managed as part of its existing network of five offices in Asia-Pacific, including Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore and Sydney, reporting to executive vice-president Paul Mottram.

Kumar commented that an increasing number of corporations, brands and business leaders aided by India's robust economic growth and globalisation, are realising the value that a strategic communications counsel backed by solid execution rigour can bring to the table.

"The communications landscape in India is unique, yet fundamental changes are at work. The last thing the market needs is just another PR agency," said Clive Armitage, Bite's CEO, "We're looking to work with people and clients who recognise the potential for compelling communications to change the game for businesses and industries in India."

Initially based in New Delhi, the company aims to open offices in Bangalore and Mumbai in the coming months.

Bite recently acquired digital agency Onexeno, and is progressively rolling out its expanded digital services throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
