Read will relocate from London to Singapore in early August and take over from Darren Magick, current managing director of McCann Health Singapore, who will be moving to London for a newly created position: senior vice-president of global marketing for McCann Health EMEA.

The move follows yesterday's appointment of Jonathan (Jack) Blakey as managing director at McCann Health Communications Japan (press release).

Amar Urhekar, executive vice president, McCann Health Asia Pacific, and representative director and president of McCann Health Communications Japan, said Read's "deep knowledge and thinking" will "sharpen and elevate" the agency's offering. McCann Health experienced "enormous growth" in 2013 and is investing further in talent, he added.

Read previously worked across Asia for McCann Health, with stints based in India, Singapore and China as general manager at McCann Health.

According to Frost & Sullivan, the Asia-Pacific healthcare sector is forecast to grow 12.8 per cent until 2018, with India, China and Japan accounting for the bulk of the growth.
