YANGON - Just three months after announcing its intention to re-enter Myanmar, Coca-Cola has made its first product delivery in the market for more than 60 years.

The soft drinks giant has also partnered with Ogilvy to launch an outdoor advertising based on the company's global theme of 'Open Happiness'. The campaign, which will run across Yangon, encourages people from Myanmar to open up a Coca-Cola and work together for a better future.

Coca-Cola will collaborate with local soft drinks company Pinya Manufacturing with the intention of starting local production as soon as possible and distributing products immediately.

The speed at which Coca-Cola is setting up operations in Myanmar is indicative of the strong interest among big name brands in the newly-opened market.

The move also signals a key battle in the softdrink sector, as Coca-Cola is set to go head-to-head with rival PepsiCo, which last month announced plans to also sell its drinks in market.

Muhtar Kent, chairman and CEO of the Coca-Cola Company, said, “In every nation and city where we do business, our employees strive to create economic value and build sustainable communities. We are privileged to once again have the opportunity to play a role in building a better future with the people of Myanmar."
