L'Oreal has sent out a RFP in Thailand with the first round of pitches expected to take place shortly. The news follows the appointment of former GroupM CEO Stephanie Bell as head of media for L'Oreal in Thailand.
The pitch is part of a regional media review that recently saw Maxus clinch agency-of-record in India during July. In Australia, the cosmetics giant initiated a review of its US$45 million account during August where the account is currently split between Universal McCann and Zenith Optimedia.
According to a source close to the business, the next pitch is schedule for the Greater China market, including China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
The brand currently works with Mindshare in Hong Kong where the agency managed to keep hold of the account following a statutory review and pitch against UM, Zenith Optimedia and Carat at the end of last year. Universal McCann was also reappointed to the business following a review in Japan during June last year.
In the US, L'Oreal's US$70 million media buying account is handled by Universal McCann.
L'Oreal began operations in Thailand in 1992 and has since grown to distribute 19 cosmetic brands via four distribution channels and employ more than 500 staff.
