Attack of the 'Blobbies' paints a compelling picture

MALAYSIA - Awesome blob creatures coat whatever surface needs coating—with style—in a new campaign for Nippon Paint in Malaysia.

Client: Nippon Paint

Agency: TBWA\Kuala Lumpur

Market: Malaysia

Campaign scope: 60-second TVC

Press release quote: "Nippon Paint is evolving to meet diverse industry needs by introducing new coating solutions for all types of surfaces such as cement, wood, glass and metal. The company is also seeking to expand its coating solutions to serve the architectural, automotive, industrial and marine segments."

Campaign Asia Pacific's comments: The above quote may not sound like the brief for an infectious and watchable TVC, but the agency has made one anyway. The spot features the brand's 'Blobbies', Pokemon-style characters (first introduced in 2008) who cavort around the city doing parkour and painting a wide variety of surfaces through their feats of athleticism. You'll absorb the message in spite of yourself while enjoying their antics.
