Y&R confirms Kit Ong appointment for Vietnam

VIETNAM - Y&R Asia has confirmed the appointment of Kit Ong as the executive creative director for its Vietnam office.

With over 20 years of experience in the industry, Ong (pictured) was most recently with Euro RSCG in Malaysia, having previously been creative director at Ogilvy Shanghai where he worked on brands including Lee Jeans and The North Face.

Malaysia-born Ong also held creative roles at Bates 141 and Saatchi & Saatchi, as well as a three-year stint at Y&R in the mid 1990s, having worked on campaigns for brands including Procter & Gamble, Nokia, Toyota, Carlsberg and Sony. 

Ong was earlier tipped to be leaving Euro RSCG to join the agency.

Marcus Rebeschini, chief creative officer at Y&R Asia, noted that the appointment would be the much needed wake-up call the office needs.

“Two years ago our office in Jakarta was a sleeping giant and after some changes and thanks to a great team there, it’s regarded as the most creative agency in Indonesia. I believe Y&R Vietnam is now at that point. Kit’s an amazingly humble creative talent and his approach to work is very much about making things happen which is what the office needs. I hope to see him wake this sleeping giant,” he added.
