
Designed as an infomercial and developed by Fallon Asia-Pacific, the 30- and 60-second TV spots feature the mythical Big Foot appearing surprised to see the Touareg driving through an impenetrable forest.
Fallon executive creative director Calvin So said: "The strategy was to dramatise what the vehicle can do and convey the message that it is engineered in a superior way."
The campaign is running on CNBC until the end of December, initially in Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan. The spot follows the earlier launch of a branding commercial, developed by DDB Sydney in conjunction with Volkswagen Australia, which is airing in Greater China, Singapore, Japan and Korea.
The Touareg is Volkswagen's first major global foray into the SUV category.
