Tribal DDB appoints Patrick Rona as new Asia president

ASIA-PACIFIC - Tribal DDB is understood to have named Patrick Rona, currently president of Europe, Middle East and Africa at Tribal DDB Worldwide, as the new president of Asia. He will replace Amanda King, who will step down from her role as president of Tribal DDB Asia-Pacific in March 2012.

It is believed that in addition to his position at Tribal DDB, Rona will also be appointed to the newly-created role of chief digital officer for DDB Group Asia-Pacific.

Rona is expected to join DDB in January 2012. It is thought that he will work alongside King to ensure a smooth transition.

Rona has over 15 years of experience in digital marketing. He joined DDB in February 2010 from OgilvyOne, where he worked as global digital partner running the Unilever digital marketing account, working on brands such as Dove, Persil (Omo), and Vaseline.

Prior to that he was head of digital at Craik Jones and senior VP at Digitas in the UK. He began his agency career at Agency.com in the mid-1990s.

Campaign Asia-Pacific contacted DDB for conformation but the agency was unable to comment.

Tribal DDB announced in early July that King would be leaving the agency to spend more time with her family in Australia. King joined Tribal DDB in 2000, moving to a regional role in 2007.
