Tourism Malaysia set to consolidate global account

KUALA LUMPUR - Tourism Malaysia (TM), whose global account is split between nine agencies, is reportedly seeking to consolidate its account with two agencies - TBWA and Sen Media-JWT - in the next few weeks.

Reports suggest that a substantial amount of advertising and promotions budget has already been allocated to these agencies.

The news has created an air of confusion and suspense among the seven other agencies that service the account. TM has also put a freeze on work by the seven agencies for an indefinite time and no campaigns are being launched. A number of agency insiders confirmed that they have been asked to put their work on hold.

“We don’t really know what’s going on. It’s confusing, the work has stopped. All agencies are in limbo,” said one agency head. “We have staff that were hired for this specific account and now we are doing nothing. All we are doing is waiting for TM to give us some clarity. If they have realigned then they should let us know”
