Tom Doctoroff joins Prophet

Tom Doctoroff, most recently Asia-Pacific CEO at J. Walter Thompson until his departure in June last year, is joining brand and marketing consultancy Prophet as senior partner.

He will split his time between the company's US and China offices, according to Prophet.

The consultancy said Doctoroff's "combination of pan-Asian work and in-depth understanding of the nuances of Chinese consumer psychology" make him a foremost expert who will "help unlock growth" for both Asian companies and multinational brands.

Jay Milliken, senior partner and head of Prophet’s Asian region, said in a release that Doctoroff is a "renowned business leader and global brand builder" whose specific knowledge of Chinese brands and consumers will be a critical part of Prophet’s continued expansion in the region.

The company assists foreign brands entering the Chinese market and Chinese brands transitioning into the international market, it said.

"I share Prophet’s belief that the most successful brands are the ones that create relevance by consistently finding ways to be indispensable in consumers’ lives," Doctoroff said. Combining his passion for global brand-building with Prophet’s multidisciplinary approach will help clients find new ways to grow their businesses, he added.
