STAR hooks up with 3 Australia for mobile Chinese TV

HONG KONG - STAR has hooked up with 3 Australia through middleman digital media publisher, News Digital Media, to form Star Mandarin Mobile, Australia's first streamlined Chinese language subscription-based mobile TV service targeting Chinese audiences down under.

For A$1 (US$0.6) a day or A$4 a month, 3 Australia mobile subscribers can watch STAR programmes such as talent show Blackie’s Teenage Club on Channel [V] Taiwan, Gossip Queen the popular Taiwanese talk show hosted by Regine and reality show The Cave. More new programmes are in the pipeline.

Twenty per cent of Australia’s 21 million population are immigrants, Chinese making up the highest majority.
