Sohu and Haier to launch online TV channel

BEIJING - Chinese internet portal Sohu and appliance brand Haier have announced their intention to launch a high-definition online TV channel with a selection of 40,000 movie titles.

According to reports, the channel will follow the April launch of Haier’s new line of television sets that directly connect to the internet.

The companies have said that the channel will be initially available as a free service and will include a Sohu-branded logo on the channel’s screen.

Sohu and Haier further plan to add 1,000 movies and TV programmes to its library each day, all in high definition.
