In his new role, Karuppiah will spearhead the strategic initiatives for the print publications in the Redberry suite of products. It currently holds the exclusive marketing rights for the free daily The Malay Mail, the business daily The Malaysian Reserve and the bi-weekly lifestyle magazine Unreserved which is distributed with The Malaysian Reserve

He brings over 30 years of experience in media, publishing, financial services, consulting and content development. He joins Redberry from a multinational firm that provided legal, news and business content via print and online media for professionals in the legal, corporate, government and academic sectors as its managing director for Southeast Asia.

From 2002 to 2005, he held the post of managing director of Sun Media Corporation, the publisher of the free daily The Sun.

Meanwhile, in media sales, D'Silva has worked for The Star, News Straits Times, Malay Mail, The Sun, AMP Radio Networks (Astro/Measat) and TV3.

Back in 2003, D'Silva set up JDS Associates, a boutique public relations business firm. Five years later, he dissolved the practice to join Aegis Media as its public relations manager. His latest post there saw him serve as their public relations director.

"We believe their years of experience in the publishing and media industry will be brought to bear as we work hard towards implementing the exciting plans we have in store for the Redberry Media Group," noted David Ho, chief operating officer.
